Leadership at Children's National Hospital
Dr. King's impact on nursing education, informatics, and interprofessional practice is substantial. She has established academic-practice partnerships, advocated for the well-being and belonging of nurses within the workforce, and developed programs to prepare nurses for a dynamic, technology-enabled healthcare ecosystem. Her expertise in trauma-informed care led to the development of a validated tool to improve clinician practice and patient outcomes.
Active member of Professional & Civic Organizations
She has held positions such as appointed member and Treasurer of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Board of Directors, At-Large Member of the Virginia Organization for Nursing Leadership (VONL) Board, Commissioner for the City of Fairfax Commission for Women, where she advised on policies affecting women and girls.
Currently, she serves as a Commissioner on the ANCC Commission for Magnet, and, recently was appointed as President of the American Board of Nursing Artificial Intelligence, where she will work collaboratively to advance nursing expertise and certification in nursing.
Beyond her leadership roles at Children’s National, Dr. King
participates in professional organizations.
